Dietary epigenetics, cancer prevention and GREEN TEA CUPCAKES

Take a bite out of cancer

Take a bite out of cancer

I am so happy to share with all of you a guest post I recently did for EpiBeat, a blog created by the scientists at Zymo Research. Zymo research is a company that is dedicated to designing new products to study different aspects of biology, including epigenetics, a topic covered in this guest post. Epigenetics is related to cancer in many ways and this post will discuss a bit about what epigenetics is and how our diet can affect gene function and cancer development. I also provide a recipe for delicious green tea cupcakes with coconut frosting, which provides a healthy source of EGCG, a compound shown to help regulate genes that are involved in cancer development. (Thanks to Paleo in PDX and Detoxinista for recipe inspiration!)

Thanks so much to Kevin at Zymo Research for inviting me to participate! Also, I want to welcome all of the EpiBeat readers to Scientifically Delicous. I hope you will look around and feel free to contact me with new ideas or foods you are interested in learning more about! :)
